As from 2005 – 2007, Umjindi Municipality had been hosting the Heritage Day Celebration every September, to celebrate the Heritage/Tourism month.
In 2008, the municipality is hosting Umjindi Arts and Culture Festival, which is scheduled as follows:
Date:20 September 2008
Venue:Rimers Creek from 09h00- 13h00
Coronation Park from 14H00 till late
Products:Craft Exhibition, Art/Entertainment
Artist:Mandoza and local artists
Entry fees:Free at Rimers Creek and R40.00 at Coronation Park.
Date:21 September 2008
Venue:Coronation Park
Time:09H00 till 15H00
Products:Sermon and Gospel Festival.
Artists:New Image and other local gospel artists.
Auditions for all local artists will be held as follows:
11 September 2008 – Auditions date for Primary Schools.
12 September 2008 – Auditions date for High Schools.
13 September 2008 – Auditions date for youth out of school.
Entry forms available at all local schools and at the Information Centre.
Only 15 food stalls will be made available to interested local businesses, subject to approval by the festival steering committee.
All interested businesses should contact Fortunate Ngomane on 013-7128800/8929, to apply for a stall. Application forms available at the Developmental Planning Offices (Information Centre). Closing date for application is Friday, 29 August 2008.
