About Barberton Community Tourism

Barberton Tourism is a registered Section 21 company which is responsible for the generic marketing and promotion of Barberton and surrounds as a tourism destination. It is a partnership between the local tourism industry, businesses and Umjindi Local Municipality. As a section 21 company all funds, including any operational profits may only be used to promote the objectives of the company and cannot benefit any individual or member. The company was incorporated on 26 April 2005 and its full registered name is Barberton Community Tourism.

To become a highly sought after tourism destination, renowned for our uniqueness, special ambiance and character.


 

COMMON MISSION (PURPOSE)


 

The BCT will strive to instil tourism values into our community at all levels in order to optimise the tourism potential of the greater Barberton/Umjindi area, which is based on multi-cultural and nature-based experiences and which benefits all stakeholders on a sustainable basis.


 

Through a consultative process the need was identified for the tourism industry, related businesses and Umjindi Local Municipality to pool available funds in order to market the greater Barberton/Umjindi area more effectively. It is important for the product owners and business sector to take an active role in raising funds for and promoting the Barberton area. Barberton tourism is funded through a combination of various services delivered to its members, including bookings, advertising, special campaigns, events, term contracts and corporate sponsorships.
