It is often said that history repeats itself. In the early gold-rush days of Barberton, it had a vibrant and dramatic tradition and several operetta productions were staged. Community members decided that they would relive these olden days and entertain the community once again by putting on an adapted version of The Gondoliers. If those early townsfolk could entertain the Barberton residents, way back then, they are happy to follow their example in 2009.The operetta will take place on July 23 to 25 in the town hall at 19:00. Tickets are available at the SPCA charity shop, Co-co Pan Restaurant and outside Pick ‘n Pay on July 11. Costs are R30 for July 23 and R50 for July 24 and 25. Refreshments will be on sale during interval. All net profits from the production will be given to Barberton SPCA (75%) and the Bird Club (25%).For more information contact Iona McFarlane on 013-712-6115 or John Bunning on 013-712-6881.This should not be missed!
