The Barber Reef Festival rocked on Saturday with Gerhard Steyn as the main attraction. Not that any of the local artists stood an inch back as far as talent was concerned.
Annemarie Steyn, Sophie Paterson, Thinus Lotz, Brian de Burgh, Hennie Smit and pupils of the school with the likes of Johan Venter, Shani Swart, Tracy Salim, Devan Venebles and Wiseman Mashele showed that they could share the stage with national stars. The new local band Saving Superman with Franscois Ferreira (vocal), Jacques Hugo (bass), Raymond du Preez, Chad de Aguiar (guitars) and Bekker-Brand Janse (drums) was clearly one to keep an eye on in the future.
Besides the entertainment on stage, a baby competition and the crowning of Mr and Miss Daisy in various categories were also held. Erika Feuth and August Hennsa was crowned as Miss and Mr Daisy.
Winners in the different categories were:
19 to 25 years - Erika Feuth, Nicole and Carla Williams and in the men’s category August Hennsa and Jaun van Staden.
