Goggas
Unusual plants often provide food for unusual insects and again the Barberton mountains provide an area of excitement for amateur entomologists. The most noteworthy group of goggas are the butterflies, with several rare and endemic species having been identified such as Barbara’s Copper (Aloeides barbarae), Swanepoel’s Blue (Lepidochrysops swanepoeli) and Jeffery’s Blue (Lepidochrysops jefferyi). We are willing to bet ten Rand to a five-cent piece that any half-decent student of creepy-crawlies could come up with a hat-full of as yet undescribed goggas from millipedes to moths, including spiders, hoppers and mantids.
